Home Sweet Home
We did it! We bought a house! Wow...what a task. We bought a new-build through KB Home that should be ready in about 10-12 months. The process was surprisingly painless but a lot of decisions had to be made in a short amount of time. We purchased all of our appliances through the KB Home Store, which benefits us because everything will be installed by move-in and also we get an extra year of warranty through KB on all of the appliances. We spent $270,000 on the house itself which is 2,235 square feet with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a 2 car garage. The lot is very spacious and we back up to a greenbelt so we actually look out from the back windows onto a nice grassy park. We spent another $26,000 at the studio getting the appliances, carpet, changing lighting, fan mounts, bathroom details and a major kitchen improvement....my favorite part! In the kitchen we put what KB calls a butterfly style island in as well as double ovens. Thanksgiving will be easy now!! So all in all we spent $297,000 on the house. The front yard comes landscaped in a desert theme, but we hope to build-in a BBQ area and a portable fire pit in the backyard before we landscape it. We are very excited but overwhelmed with the new car, the wedding in 5 months and a new house in 10 months. All of this of course is taking a backseat to full-time school and jobs for both of us! We set up a 401K plan last night to ensure that we'd have something for when we are older...but for now...we just keep on going.
This time of year is stressful but remember to enjoy being with your families. As Garth Brooks says..."If tomorrow never comes, will [they] know how much I loved [them]." Be sure to tell your loved ones that you love them...sometimes we assume that they know, but they may be unsure. Happy Holidays and be safe!!!!

Your house sounds nice. There is nothing like that first house, no matter its size or price. Congrats.
Hey, are you still caching all your change? Keep it going. That can add up even more than you expect. And then, do something fun with it. Don't use it to pay your electric bill or fill your gas tank.
Have a Happy New Year.

Congrats! Hey, what kind of loan are you guys going for? Are you going to try to lock in a rate now? Can you? Should you? Don't do an interest only type loan or an ARM. Call us so we can talk about it....we love you!!!
