What a Year!

Well...it's been over a year since my last posting and although I don't have time to be writing this as I have a final due by Friday at midnight....here I am proscratinating anyway. I was tempted to leave the previous post up for a while longer since in only about five months the title will yet again ring true.

For now though, Jack is almost one (holy cow did that year go FAST!) and I am busy getting ready for the holidays, planning his first birthday party and getting ready for my final semester at school. Misleading though, since I will not actually be at ASU aside from one night class, instead I will be student teaching 8th grade history at Maricopa Wells Middle School. I'm excited about dusting off the cobwebs and getting back into the classroom, but I'm equally nervous, anxious, and doubtful of my abilities. I'm also really worried about having to take Jack to daycare everyday. I know most kids are in daycare by six to eight weeks old, but not mine...we got to spend every moment of a full year together and the thought of only seeing him rushing around in the morning and then for dinner, bath, and bedtime everyday is scary, depressing, and very overwhelming.

He hasn't started walking on his own yet but Jack has been cruising on the furniture for months and has begun to build stairs to climb on and reach items that have been strategically placed out of his reach...little bugar. He is such an amazing child, I love to watch him learn something new everyday and hear him giggle uncontrollably when we count his ribs. He just might be the most ticklish child that ever was. It's funny though, I'm not worried at all about how he will react to the new baby, I'm more worried at how I will react to having to share my love and attention. It feels like there just isn't enough of me left to love another child as much as I love him. A wise woman, whom I call Gramma, once told me that she too felt this way and with her reassuring smile told me that with each new baby that comes along your heart grows and there is room for them all. Gramma's are so smart, well I can't speak for them all, but mine is anyway. I hope I'm half as wise when I become a Gramma someday.

I hope you too have known someone as wise and loving in your life as my Gramma has been in mine. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (since I am unlikely to post prior to these momentous occasions.) =)
